Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Public Library is proud to offer a free six week Latin American Literature Course, starting Tuesday, January 20, 2015. This course will focus on the Mexican writer, Juan Rulfo and his book of short stories, El Llano en Llamas. The course will be taught completely in Spanish, and all readings will also be in Spanish. It will be held Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. beginning January 20 and ending February 24.
The course will be taught by Latin American Literature Professor Manuel Cachán. He has a B.A. in Latin American Studies, and a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature. He has been a professor of Latin American Literature at colleges and universities all over the United States, including one semester at Palomar College in San Marcos. He is now retired and lives in Oceanside.
Students in the six week class will read and discuss the Juan Rulfo collection of short stories, El Llano en Llamas, text will be provided.
