Vista CA— On Monday December 22, 2014 at approximately 6:12pm a 35-year-old female from Escondido was driving her 2003 Ford Expedition east on Hannalei Dr and stopped at the intersection of Avocado Dr. with her 2 children in the vehicle.
A vehicle traveling south on Avocado stopped to let the Expedition into the intersection but did not have a stop sign to do so.
As the Expedition entered the intersection a 2008 Jeep Laredo driven by a 37 year old female from Vista traveling northbound on Avocado collided into the right side of the Expedition. This collision caused the Expedition to travel out of control and collide into 2001 Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old female from Vista that was stopped at the westbound stop sign on Hannalei Dr.
The driver of the Expedition did not suffer any injuries. Her 7-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries. Her 3-year-old daughter suffered major injuries to her face and was flown to Rady Children’s Hospital. The child is expected to survive.
The driver of the Jeep also had 2 children ages 4 and 6 in the vehicle but no one in the vehicle complained of injuries at the scene. The diver of the Honda suffered injuries to her right arm and her right rear passenger a complained of pain at the scene but will seek their own medical aid.
Alcohol or drugs are not a suspected factor in this collision and the accident remains under investigation.
