A motorcyclist died in a crash Oct. 7 on South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
At about 12:26 p.m., three male motorcyclists in their early 20s were traveling southbound in the 1200 block of South Coast Highway 101 when a Toyota Camry entered the intersection at K Street, according to a Sheriff’s Department report. The 69-year-old male driver of the Toyota made a left turn onto South Coast Highway 101 to head north, when the first of the three motorcycles collided with the vehicle.
The motorcycle rider, a 25-year-old white man, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities stated. South Coast Highway 101 was closed for about six hours as authorities investigated the accident, according to reports.
